Jump Cuts in Eden Lake &

A jump cut, is a shot in which "jumps" showing the passing of time, ect. These jump shots jump through time but they stay in the same place meaning that the camera doesnt move but the mise-en-scene changes through very little things which represent the changes of time.

Eden Lake first 5 min: In Eden Lake, the jump cuts in the beggining of the film; are there to represent the passing of time in a simple form. In the first 5 minutes, there are 4 jump cuts durring their trip from the city to there destination. we can see how these jump cuts show were they come from to a world that for them is disorientated and full of confusion. These jump shots also show how the time is passing by through the shots that go from sunset to night.

(Noise effects : knife sounds and screaming sound then dissolve into next shot…)

DISSOLVE TO:

2-INT. NIGHT TIME LIVING ROOM(CLOSE UP – PHONE) moves back to show girl.

WOMAN PICKS UP PHONE

Woman: Hello

     

V.O Hello

Woman: Yes

V.O: Who is this?

Woman: mmmmm who are you trying to reach?

V.O: What number is this?

Woman: Well what number are you trying to reach?

V.O: I don’t know

Woman: I think you have the wrong number.

V.O: Do I?

Woman: It happens, take it easy.

                  (woman hangs up phone)

PHONE RINGS

3- INT. NIGHT TIME LIVING ROOM (CLOSE-UP PHONE) MOVES BACK TO FOCUS ON WOMAN TALKING:

Woman: Hello?

V.O: I guessed I dialed the wrong number

Woman: Why did you dial it again?

V.O: To Apologize

Woman: You’re forgiven, bye now

V.O: Wait,Wait Don’t hang up

Woman: Why?

V.O: I want to talk to you for a second

Woman: They’ve got 900 numbers for that, c ya

HANG UP PHONE WALKS AWAY CAMERA

STAYS IN PLACE

4-INT TO EXT SHOT- TREES TILT TO MEDIUM SHOT OF HOUSE (SWING IS MOVING AND MAKING NOISE.)

5-EXT TO INT SHOT- CLOSE UP ON STOVE, FIRE TURNED ON AND POPCORN PAN PLACED ON THE STOVE.

 PHONE RINGS AND CLOSE UP GOES BACK TO FOCUS ON GIRL.

     Woman: Hello?

      V.O: Why don’t you want to talk to me?

      Woman: Who is this?

      V.O: you tell me your name, ill tell you mine.

      Woman:  I don’t think so.

(WOMAN SHAKES POPCORN PAN)

      V.O: whats that noise?

      Woman: Popcorn

      V.O: your making popcorn?

      Woman: uh-huh

      V.O: I only eat popcorn at the movies.

      Woman: Well im getting ready to watch a video.

     

V.O: really? Which one?

      Woman: just some scary movie.

             

Mise-en-scene work in group 8-04-11

In this photo we wanted to represent the ages St. George's has on its name; we trying showing this through this picture in many ways. One of the ways in which we tried to expose this feature of age, was by taking the photo in black and white. The feeling of black and white takes you back to the times were color in film didn't exist, this is why this color scheme is so effective. Also, by taking a picture of these two sinks; shows first of all how they look to be warred down and missing pieces of tile. As the viewer can understand by this, is that time has token a toll on this and that shows how it has some years to it. The angle in which the photo is taken and the fact that its from up above, is trying to show a sense of awkwardness, like they're not meant to be there but in fact they are.

Mise-en-scene in "Rear window"

A) In the opening scene in "rear window," we can analyze and understand so many things through the mise-en-scene that goes through this scene. At first glance we can see how this film starts in an urban area in an apartment building. We go seeing more after each curtain is pulled up, this lets us absorb more the feeling of this urban setting. As the camera goes out of this rear window it engulges you with this complex of apartaments surrounding the cameras shot. As it moves through and shows the other building the "normal" life goes waking up and the normal life comes to life. 

"The last Emperor" Review

In this classic shot, we can take in and see how the different elements in film kick in, in this shot.
The camera, here is taking a far shot which lets you see all the mise-en-scene and lets you have a view of the enourmous size this chinese palace gives you. In this scene shot, you can see how there is a sign of obedience and oreder and how all these characters are in clean lines all sitting the correct way and showing a sign of  respect to their leader "emperor" in this case. The buildings in the background, represent a sign of something old and ancient culture, you can come to understand that this is somewhat of a palace or a special place to these people. Also, the different colors that the people have makes another sign of order and the carriage in the middle which is a color of importance (gold) showing that someone important is inside it. This can show us how this shot from "the last emperor" makes it become a classic shot. 

In the world of making a movie.

Director: He has the role on facing problems every day and also he needs new ideas everyday.

Producer: He is the one that pays the money for the film, actors etc.

Scriptwriter: In this film, the scriptwriter is hurt, so he needs a typewriter. He is the one that has to change the story if it is needed, and also the script.

Actor: She is uncomfortable with what she has to do in the film at the beginning, so she wants to quit. Then, the actors have script conferences.

Cinematographer: He is the one in charge on changing the stages for the different situations in the film, for example the rain, and the lighting effects for making some romance.

Sound: The sound has the role to adapt music to situations, when there is tension there is a more tense music, when there is romance the music is slower and nice, and also plays with the sound of the rain, which have a good effect con it.

Assistant director: He is the one that do everything for the director to be comfortable and also take orders all the time.

In this shot , i wanted to show the cuple as a happy cuple and this is why the shot is only focused on them.

In this shot, I wanted a medium-close up (of the cuple) to the far shot (of the bench) and how the girl points to the bench showing a sign of interest.

In this low-shot of the cuple, I made this shot to try and show that there love and what they had was strong and it could be shown through their happiness.

In this shot, we can see only her face and that shes interested in something but we dont know in what, this makes the viewer have an interest.
